Epicurean Charitable Foundation’s Inaugural Strikes For Scholarships Fundraiser

By on December 4, 2013

Epicurean Charitable Foundation of Las Vegas (ECF) will honor January as National Mentorship Month by hosting the inaugural Strikes for Scholarships bowling tournament fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, at South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa.

“Strikes for Scholarships will provide a fun and casual way for the Las Vegas community to get to know our students and board of directors,” said ECF Executive Director Melissa Arias. “We’re especially proud because our students are planning the fundraiser themselves. We’re giving them the freedom and opportunity to benefit their peers by taking control of the event from start to finish.”

Participants may sign up to bowl individually, as a team or bid to play with one of the notable participating celebrities. Bowlers are encouraged to dress in support of their favorite college or university, and prizes will be awarded for most team spirit, best bowler, best celebration dance and other challenges. Food and beverages specials will include $1 bloody marys and mimosas, $2 draft beers, $1 popcorn, soft pretzels and hot dogs and cheese pizza for $2 per slice or $10 per pie.

An exciting balloon pop raffle will also be held featuring valuable items such as a $400 gift card to Sporting House, dinner for four at Bayside Buffet and four passes to Shark Reef at Bellagio, a two-night stay in Rush Tower at Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino and two tickets to see Gordie Brown, and others. Registration for Strikes for Scholarships is priced at $35 for individuals and $125 for teams of five, with tickets and sponsorship opportunities available by visiting www.ecflv.org or calling 702-932-5098.

Strikes for Scholarships celebrates ECF’s mentorship program. Scholarship recipients are each paired with an individual member of the board for the duration of their education, providing them with academic and professional guidance, personal support and unique job and internship opportunities upon graduation. Proceeds from the bowling tournament will support the foundation’s primary charitable endeavor of awarding annual scholarship awards for deserving high school students seeking careers in the hospitality and food and beverage industries.
